Grass Roots Grant Application and Criteria

Recognizing the importance of grassroots development within the United States, USA Taekwondo will be awarding up to $10,000 in grant funds during the 2007 fiscal year.  The grants will range in size from $1,000.00 to $2,500.00. Applications will be accepted from current USA Taekwondo members that address how the grant money will be used in one or more of the following areas:

  • Increase participation and awareness of taekwondo in the United States
  • Increase USAT membership
  • Matched or leveraged use to increase the funding for the proposed program
  • Improve the quality of taekwondo athletes, coaches or referees
  • Outreach to underrepresented taekwondo communities

Grant applicants shall include the following application materials:

  1. Letter of Application addressing one or all of the above criteria and indicating the specific proposed use of the grant funds.
  2. Detailed budget of the proposed project.
  3. Evidence of grantee’s ability to accomplish the project’s goals.

The Grant Review Committee will consist of USA Taekwondo CEO David Askinas, USA Taekwondo Special Projects Manager Jennifer Keurulainen and USAT Member Representative John Esche.

All applications must be sent 45 days prior to the beginning of the program to:

Successful applicants will be expected to submit a final report showing the use of the grant funds within 90 days of the program’s conclusion.
