U.S. National Poomsae Team head coach Master Jimmy Kim (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) has appointed Ibrahim Chishti (Carlsbad, Calif.) as men's team assistant coach and Claire Kim (Huntington Beach, Calif.) as assistant coach for the women's team. The assistant coaches will help prepare and train the National Poomsae Team at the 4th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, Nov. 30 - Dec. 2, 2009 in Cairo, Egypt.
Chishti served as men's team trainer on the 2008 U.S. National Poomsae Team at the 3rd WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Ankara, Turkey, and is the brother of 2009 National Poomsae Team Member Muhammad Chishti (Carlsbad, Calif.).
"I am honored to be selected by Master Kim as an assistant coach for the National Poomsae Team," said Chishti. "This year we have a great mix of new members and veterans, all of whom have been training very hard since being selected for the team. I am excited about our chances and look forward to the United States winning more medals than ever before at the World Poomsae Championships."
Kim is a three-time U.S. National Poomsae Team member, having competed at the 1st and 2nd WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Seoul and Incheon, South Korea, respectively.
"It is an honor to serve as assistant coach on the National Poomsae Team," Kim said. "I am excited to help Master Kim as well as the rest of the team at the World Championships!"
